Day 14 of Gratefulness: Snow Angels

I am a little obsessed with snow… I will admit it. Yet I don’t like being cold. I guess I had to many days as a kid where I had frost bite on my fingers and toes. Damn ski coaches for making me stay out longer than I should have. All I really wanted to do was go inside the lodge and get hot coco and Reese Peanut Butter Cups – Yum! I would not be the skier I am today if it wasn’t for them pushing me though and I appreciate that.

Now I love getting out in the white stuff and enjoying the magic it brings. You will often find me bundled up in my ski pants and all the gear just to go to the grocery store or to the movies. Actually yesterday I walked the mile to the movie theater in my ski pants and took them off right there in the theater so I would not get too hot. Not to worry I was wearing jeans underneath but people in the theater did stare. I stared back!!! Hey, I love the snow but I also like to stay warm. In my opinion winter is better than summer as you can always add more clothes …where in summer you can only take so much off. If it is too hot outside you are often inside with the AC on for the cooler temps anyway.

Denver winter is even better as it is sunny more days than not. We have many days where it is so nice out that you want to sit outside and enjoy a margarita or eat ice cream. Some days you might even be able to wear a t-shirt and shorts. It is one of Denver’s best-kept secrets as the rest of the country thinks we are buried in snow all winter. You can keep thinking that by the way- we are plenty populated.

I think one of the best parts of winter and a snowstorm is the ability to make a snow angel. I love them- don’t really understand why but I just do. I am grateful for all those days that I get to make snow angels and especially when I get to share the experience with someone that has never done it before.
