Day 115 of Gratefulness: Saint Mary’s Glacier

What an absolutely beautiful day we experienced today and I got to spend part of it at 10,000ft on a glacier in the Rocky Mountains.  As much as my apartment was warm to the point that it is borderline uncomfortable and I was sad to see the snow melt in the Denver area, it was a very different feeling on St. Mary’s Glacier.  It was still sunny which was nice as I just wore my boots, jeans, a t-shirt, winter coat, hat and mittens.   The trail was snow packed and had been walked on by several before us to make it an easy trail to follow.  The cool crisp air was refreshing on my lungs and the views were amazing.  Bella was in heaven as she ran up and down, back and forth, side to side.  She was grinning from ear to ear and explorer as much as she could.  She just could not get enough of everything around her and she wanted to see it, taste it, feel it and smell it.  She even attempted to play on a sheet of ice but quickly found out she had no traction and ended up sledding the 5 feet or so down it.
The smile on her face made my heart sing.

We hiked a little further then I thought we would and I wished we could have made it to the field area, as the views are even more breathtaking up there. But the sun was quickly setting and the warmth was surely going to be missed once it was gone.  We turned around but not before taking in the beauty that surrounded us.  It was just perfect and it made my heart yearn for more.
